louise2Louise Diamond is an international peacebuilder, author, and educator whose life is dedicated to helping build peace-full and healthy human systems, locally, nationally, and globally. Co-founder and president emeritus of The Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy, founder of The Peace Company, and president of Louise Diamond Consulting, Louise has deep experience as a change catalyst in war zones around the world as well as with communities, organizations, youth and families, and the terminally ill. She is the author of several books, including the best-selling The Peace Book: 108 Simple Ways to Create a More Peaceful World, and is a frequent public speaker, consultant, conference organizer and presenter. Louise, who has a Ph.D. in Peace Studies, is a visionary systems thinker and master trainer who has trained thousands around the world in areas related to human behavior, systems dynamics, inter-group relations, and the living spirit of peace.

Louise will be the principal faculty of the How to Change the World course, teaching all four seasons of the program and coordinating the participation of Guest Faculty.

EoyangGlenda Eoyang is a master teacher with deep insights into the art and science of self-organizing human systems. As a pioneer in the field of human systems dynamics, Eoyang applies principles of self-organizing systems to help people thrive in unpredictable environments. Since 1988, she has provided training, consulting, coaching, and facilitation support to organizations in the public and private sectors. She is currently serving as founding Executive Director of the Human Systems Dynamics Institute, a network of professionals working at the intersection of complexity and social sciences. Her published works include numerous scholarly and practical articles, Coping with Chaos: Seven Simple Tools, Facilitating Organization Change: Lessons from Complexity Science, and Voices from the Field: An Introduction to Human Systems Dynamics.

She is the founder and president of Pat Battle Associates, an organizational consulting firm with programs on leading change, high performance through inclusion and valuing differences, leveraging the human side of technology, executive coaching, and teamwork in the new millenium. She is also the founder of the 7th Sense Leadership process, a comprehensive transformative executive program designed to help people successfully navigate the challenges of the 21st century to create and lead healthy, thriving systems. Dr. Battle is a co-creator of the Battle-Klein-Battle Resistance Style Inventory and co-author of Pigmentocracy: How Language Created, Perpetuates and Sustains it. She is often called upon as a motivational keynote speaker and conference presenter.

tori002Victoria Hovde is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Five Element Acupuncturist. She has been on the faculty at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute and the Green Mountain School of Oriental Medicine, and is currently on the teaching faculty of Sunray Meditation Society. Her private practice serves people in Vermont and Pennsylvania. She also brings her experience of studies in Cherokee healing, shamanism, and meditation, as well as her training in the visual arts and love of gardening, weaving together ways to bring inner balance and harmony with all the elements.

Corinne and Gordon are pioneers in applying Ageless Wisdom to the way we live, do business, govern ourselves, and think about the world. Together they co-founded the Sirius Community, a pre-eminent ecovillage in Massachusetts, plus the Center for Visionary Leadership, an educational center that supports and develops values-based visionary leadership in all fields of human endeavor, especially business and politics. They also co-authored the groundbreaking book Spiritual Politics: Changing the World from the Inside Out. Corinne and Gordon consult with various organizations and offer training and personal coaching for leaders. Gordon served as the Executive Director of the Social Investment Forum and The Center for Environmentally Responsible Economies. Corinne coordinated a national task force for President Clinton's Council on Sustainable Development and taught politics at American University.

ChrissmChris spent his youth surrounded by the seasons, woods and streams of Illinois and his early twenties wandering the mountain wilderness of the great North West. He then settled on the Pt. Reyes Peninsula in northern California where he raised two lovely daughters, who now have three rambunctious sons. In his mid twenties, he met Jim, who shared the Way of Haiku as a life long path of living presence, taught him zazen, and became Chris’s spiritual mentor and deepest friend. Since then he has published several collections of Haiku – Gnarled Grasses; Spring Light and recently, Wandering in Wonder, his combined works from the last forty years. For his profession, Chris draws on his background in Zen, Haiku and Aikido, the Art of Peace, to advise corporate executives on inner mastery and servant leadership.

JamesODea picJames O’Dea is the President of the Institute of Noetic Sciences and a native of Ireland. The Institute of Noetic Sciences is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1973 by astronaut Edgar Mitchell which focuses on emerging paradigms, extended human capacities, and integral health and healing. Before coming to IONS in April 2003, James spent ten years as the Director of the Washington Office of Amnesty International, where he testified before Congress, met with two U.S. presidents and numerous foreign heads of state and government leaders, and represented Amnesty International to the State Department, the White House, and the World Conference on Human Rights. Subsequently, he spent five years as executive director of Seva, a non-profit organization dedicated to international health & development issues in Latin America, Asia, and on American Indian reservations. Seva is a Sanskrit word meaning service. James lived and worked in Turkey and Lebanon, and witnessed civil conflict and massacres, which influenced him deeply. He brings to IONS a sense of urgency about the issues the world currently faces, as well as an Irish sense of humor and love of language. 

James is also a member of the World Wisdom Council, bringing together leaders from the Religious, Spiritual, Political, Non-Profit, and Civil Society realms to formulate a structure and support system that furthers the realization that we are one family of humankind. He lectures all over the world, and has essays published in numerous magazines and books including currently The Mystery of 2012 and Consciousness and Healing.

Dr. Barbara Marx Hubbard, futurist and global citizen, is a leading voice in the field of conscious evolution. Currently President of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution, she also co-founded the World Future Society and the Global Association for New Thought.
 
Barbara is currently producing a seven part documentary series entitled “Humanity Ascending: A New Way through Together.” This transformational series presents vital elements to awaken the codes for our own conscious evolution and offers direction, meaning and a vision toward our birth as a new humanity.

Mohammed Abu-Nimer

abunimerMohammed Abu-Nimer is a Professor in the International Peace and Conflict Resolution program at the School of International Service. He is also Director of the Peacebuilding and Development Institute at American University. An expert on conflict resolution and dialogue for peace, Dr. Abu-Nimer has conducted research on conflict resolution and dialogue for peace among Palestinians and Jews in Israel. His work has focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and on application of conflict resolution models in Muslim communities. Dr. Abu-Nimer has also conducted interreligious conflict resolution training, and interfaith dialogue. In the last decade, Dr. Abu-Nimer has completed many evaluation projects and reports of peacebuilding and development programs. As a scholar/practitioner, he has been intervening and conducting conflict resolution training workshops in many conflict areas around the world, including Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Northern Ireland, Philippines (Mindanao), Sri Lanka and other areas. In addition to his numerous articles and publications, Abu-Nimer is the co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Peacebuilding and Development.
